In this week’s street poll, we asked whether it’s better to work with or without a contract. I currently work without one, and as a Brit, that’s an unusual concept for me. I come from a land where annual bonuses, pension packages and health insurance provided by the employer, are the norm.
I knew that in Moscow, the practice of working without a contract is widespread, and I wanted to know how Russians felt about it. As suspected, most people we spoke to didn’t work on contract, but they felt that a contract offers an employee more job security. They also believed that working on contract places personnel in a position where they have a better understanding of their rights and responsibilities at work.
