MOSCOW — Russia's defense minister Sergey Lavrov finds it possible to start withdrawing Russian military equipment and arms from Georgia, he has told journalists today. He said that in theory he did not rule out that the process could start already this year, but only on condition that an agreement is signed between Russia and Georgia, expressly stipulating for the timelines for withdrawal of military equipment and armaments from Russia's two military bases deployed in Batumi and Akhalkalaki. The minister also stressed that at the moment there was no such agreement. The defense ministry estimates that it will take at least 3-4 years to withdraw military equipment.
